Art Reproduction

From original artwork to a repeatable print file

Professional capture, color correction, proofing and reproduction support for artists who need consistent results across editions and materials.

Why artists come here

Reproductions that rival the original

If you have been looking for a full-service digital imaging center on Maui, where fine art reproductions are produced on a range of archival papers and canvas at prices that work, you have found it.

We are in the heart of Lahaina, and we use current imaging technology to bring reproductions to life: high-resolution scanning, 12-ink giclée printing, protective coatings and expert canvas stretching. Come and see how your work reproduces, with the vibrance, texture and depth of the original intact.

Capture

Getting the file right comes first

A reproduction is only ever as good as the capture it started from. This is the part people skip, and it is the part that decides the result.

  • Scan resolution Up to 12,800 dpi
  • Original size Pieces up to 60 × 50 inches
  • Lighting Calibrated for correct color reproduction
  • Included Half an hour of color correction and retouching
  • Archiving Scans archived with copies kept off-site

Why the off-site copy matters. Once your work is captured properly, that file is the master every future edition comes from. We keep a redundant backup away from the building so a fire, a flood or a failed drive does not cost you the reproduction as well as the original.

Our art reproduction process

Five steps, every time

  1. The capture and preparation workstation at Maui Digital Imaging.

    1Careful scanning

We capture every detail using professional scanning equipment, at the highest quality the piece allows.

  2. Color and detail being refined on a calibrated display.

    2Color & detail correction

We refine color, contrast and detail to make the reproduction as true to the original as it can be.

  3. A print emerging from the wide-format printer.

    3Archival printing

Archival pigment inks and premium papers or canvas, to produce vibrant, long-lasting prints.

  4. A canvas being hand-stretched over a solid wood frame.

    4Hand-stretched

Each canvas is stretched over solid wood frames by hand, with care and precision.

  5. Protective varnish being sprayed onto a finished piece.

    5Quality finish

We inspect every print against our own standards before it goes out, and finish it so it lasts.

Beyond the first print

Editions, restoration and the rest

  • Consistent editions. Once the master file is right, every later print in the edition comes from the same source and matches.
  • Image restoration. Damaged, faded or torn originals brought back before they are reproduced.
  • Retouching and embellishing. Expert correction where a piece needs more than a straight capture.
  • Image archiving. Your masters kept safe, with off-site redundancy.
  • Any material. The same file printed on cotton rag, canvas, metallic paper or aluminum. Compare them here.

The canvas print exceeded my expectations. The detail, color, and depth are incredible. It truly looks like the original.
