How it works

From original art to finished print

Great reproduction is more than sending a file to a printer. We combine careful file preparation, color management, proofing, professional output and finishing to create work that is ready to display, sell or exhibit.

  1. Calibrated monitors and a wide-format printer at the Maui Digital Imaging capture and preparation workstation.

    1Capture & scan

    Your original is scanned or photographed under calibrated lighting so the file starts out as true to the artwork as possible.

  2. A color-managed editing workstation with a landscape image open on the calibrated display.

    2Color correction

    We refine color, contrast and detail on calibrated displays until the reproduction matches the original as closely as the medium allows.

  3. A monochrome whale print emerging from the wide-format printer.

    3Proof & print

    We proof before we commit, then print with archival pigment inks onto the paper, canvas or panel that suits the work.

  4. A spray gun applying a protective print varnish to a colorful painted harbour scene.

    4Finishing

    Prints are finished with a protective coat that guards against UV light, moisture and abrasion, and deepens color at the same time.

    5Stretch & mount

    Canvas is hand-stretched over solid wood bars and metal prints are mounted, so the piece arrives ready to hang.

We opened our doors in August 2007 with a simple belief: that exceptional printing and personal service could inspire creativity and connect people. For more than 19 years we have been proud to call Lahaina home, and to be part of the vibrant artistic community that makes this town so special.

The camera shop that still answers questions

Unlike most photography stores that center on the camera purchase, we offer the full range: from digital capture to final creative output. Come in with a question about a lens, a housing or a tricky exposure and you will get an answer from someone who shoots here.

We specialize in underwater camera equipment for both still and video cameras, and are dealers for Gates Underwater Products, Ikelite, SeaLife, Light & Motion, Sea & Sea and more.
